Small (Graphical) Update

Hello, everyone! Lately, I've been focusing on working towards SMGP more than usual, and aside from progressing on level design only and stuff, I decided I would finally redraw some sprite graphics that weren't matching nicely with most of the custom graphics the hack features - some examples of such sprite graphics are the following:

(From left to right: redrawn Sidestepper [popularly known as the "Crab" from Mario Bros.], redrawn Batadon [from Super Mario Land] and redrawn Nyololin [from Super Mario Land, too].)

Something actually big that you can easily notice upon looking at the first screenshot particularly is that I managed to redraw the ocean background ONCE AGAIN, and in my opinion, it's looking MUCH BETTER now. Don't worry about myself redrawing it constantly, though, as I SWEAR this is going to be its last update until quite some time...

Also, if you are interested in how the overworld for the hack will probably look like, check this out. Please keep in mind that this is unfinished, as well as I ought to change some few things on the current overworld later on.

Hey, folks! It's been a while since the last update we had, eh...? I must admit that it was all MY fault, guys - I completely forgot to show you guys some of my newest stuff via updating this blog! In fact, I had completely forgotten that this blog even EXISTED! XD

Uh, well, let's get on topic, though: as I just mentioned, I have done quite some nice stuff since the last update we had...

...FIRST OFF, I would like to proudly present to you all the trailer of my main project, named Super Mario's Golden Paradise, as y'all know:

This trailer was showed off at SMWC3, which is some sort of creativity convention we occasionaly have at SMWCentral. Fun fact: I actually earned plenty of awards because of THIS trailer, which took me about THREE days to get done! 6 trophies to be exact! Likewise, I was quite surprised when I realized that I had earned this many for something which I initially had thought that would come out HORRIBLE. XP

Secondly, here goes a few screenshots of a side-hack of mine, named Delivery. This hack is a tad little different from the other SMW hacks around... guess why? Simply because it features a different theme from the other SMW hacks we have around... yes, that's it, it has a winter theme with it! A Christmas theme, to be more precise!

Aside from that, the concept for this hack is a little different from the concept of the other SMW hacks generally - instead of needing to cut the Goal Tape in order to beat the level completely, in this hack the player requires to find FOUR presents hidden along the levels to eventually beat 'em. With that said, you may have come up to the conclusion that this hack features a great ammount of puzzles within its levels, huh? If so, you are absolutely right - I've been trying to focus on scattering quite some puzzles around the levels of this hack, and progress is going pretty well so far. :D

So, since I have already explained pretty much everything about the hack's general structure and stuff, let's go onto the screens themselves!

Third, here go a few misc. screenshots of Golden Paradise - please keep in mind, though, that most of these screenshots are kinda outdated, eh:

Lastly, here goes my first (succesful) attempt at music porting, in case you are interested: Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge - "Breegull Beach". Personally, I reckon it would go well in plenty of different areas, especially in beach/tropical levels.

This concludes this somewhat epic bump I just made in my own blog! :O Please leave some feedback, because I'm now bound to get some! XD

SMGP Stuff + WIP Broozer Graphics

Hello, everyone! It has been a while since the last update was put on this blog, hasn't it? Well, to start off, here are two new screenshots from Super Mario's Golden Paradise (SMGP):

The first screenshot was taken from the level I'm currently working on - Bramble Labyrinth. If anyone has a better suggestion for the level's name, please let me know, since I'm not really happy with the name I took from my mind. ;)

The second screenshot is from a new feature I'm implementing into my hack... the FOEPEDIA! The Foepedia is basically, as the name stats, a foe encyclopedia. The Foepedia can be accessible in a library-like level named Toadstool Library - it works exactly like that: once you beat the castle of a certain world, all of the enemies found in that world are put into the Foepedia, and then you're able to find out more about them, by looking on their information fields. I actually took this idea from the "Super Princess Peach" game, for the Nintendo DS - my sister has got this game, and there's a sort of glossary included within it - in fact, I found it rather interesting, and I decided to implement something similar into my hack. :P

Also, here's a last thing to go within this update...

...that's right - that's me, in a 16-bit form! I made those graphics one day or two ago - I had the idea of making a hack related to SMWCentral, all of a sudden - I don't know if I'll actually work on it, though. Perhaps I may try doing such a thing... perhaps not. D:

Anyhoo, feel free to comment about everything I posted! And until the next update, see ya!

*Broozer bumps his own blog, along with an update!

Hello, everyone! I finally decided to bump this blog, after about time, along with an update, from yours truly. B)

Well... some of you might know a little of Super Mario World Hacking Contests (SMHC), a board that was created by Yoshiro. As the name suggests, this board was mainly created for several SMW Hacking contests - the first contest to be announced was the Grassland Contest, which the contestants had to create an enjoyable grassy level - I mean, the level should'd had a good level design (obviously), and it also could have custom stuff within it, so that it turned out even better. As soon as I heard of this contest and the actual board itself, I decided to join the contest, and eventually, I got done with my contest entry, whose the name is Joybush Road. It seems like that spending all day working on this level until 1:00 A.M. resulted on something! Yep, that's it - this level ended up in first place, along with X-King's level - so it was technically a tie.

Here's a video that shows off everything from the level, which I recorded and uploaded to YouTube - yeah, you are probably guessing that I liked so much how my level turned out that I decided to record a video of it - and YOU'RE RIGHT, BUDDY! I love how this level turned out, although as the judges on SMWHC mentioned, the time limit is rather short.

Anyway, here's the video. Enjoy watching!

Oh... and how could I forget of the download link itself? Yep, that's it - feel free to check out the level yourselves, by just clicking on this link!

Have fun, and until the next update, see ya!

Blog Opened

Hello there! I decided to follow a small "fad" on SMW Central, and I went ahead and created a blog as well. SMW Central is a SMW Hacking site, as the name suggests, and SMW stands for Super Mario World, which is a game for the SNES people can modify nowadays, by using a level editor for that game called Lunar Magic.

Speaking of that, if you are interested on hacking SMW, you need to download Lunar Magic (which you can find here), a clean SMW ROM (google it) and a SNES emulator - I like using ZSNES to test out the small modifications I do on my hack, you can find it here. As far as I know, SMW is the video game you can most modify by using a level editor - you can insert custom graphics, custom blocks, custom sprites and even custom music in your hack! I guess that's why I like hacking SMW so much - you can basically create a brand new game by using SMW as a base, if you want.

Well, now you might've gotten why I created this blog - I want to show off most of my SMW hacking related stuff in this blog, such as my custom graphics, my levels, and stuff from my main SMW hack. So yeah, the blog is finally "opened" - I guess I'll be able to show some nice stuff up to tomorrow, so stay tuned! Until then, see ya!
